Wholesale Jeans

Like other items of clothing, jeans are supplied by wholesalers to small businesses in bulk quantities. Wholesalers buy the stock directly from the manufacturers and sell them to the retailers. This is how flea market vendors and small shop owners buy jeans, get significant discounts on them and make good profits by selling them to end-users. This is a very lucrative business; prospective entrepreneurs can set up small stores and sell jeans bought from wholesalers. Even private individuals can take advantage of the wholesale concept; if you have a few friends who all want the same type of jeans, you can pool your buying resources and buy in bulk from the wholesaler.

Wholesale jeans are available in cases or packs, with the number of pieces ranging from as low as nine to as high as two hundred. Both mens and womens jeans, and even childrens jeans sets, are available wholesale. A case of wholesale jeans usually contains jeans of various waist-sizes and lengths. It may have jeans of one particular color/wash, or of assorted colors. Jeans of the leading brands are often available wholesale. Used and recycled jeans are also available wholesale.

Consumers can also buy wholesale jeans and get outrageous discounts. More and more wholesalers are reaching out directly to the customers through the Internet. Though wholesale jeans dont have that guarantee of quality that comes with jeans that are sold in exclusive retail outlets of top brands, but considering the amount of that is saved, they usually fetch a good bargain.

About Wholesale Designer Jeans

Before the age of wholesalers selling clothes on the Internet directly to consumers, buying wholesale jeans directly from the manufacturer was the only option for store owners. Now retailers and shoppers are one mouse click away from bulk discounters who will sell wholesale designer jeans at discounts of 80 percent below retail prices. As the prices of trendy designer jeans rise to more than $300 a pair, buying jeans wholesale is not only preferred over retail for shoppers, but is now considered a necessity by some.

Significance

1. Retail store owners and bargain shoppers both search for major discounts on popular jeans such as Red Monkey, True Religion and 7 For All Mankind. The Los Angeles Fashion District, New York's Garment District and Atlanta's Apparel Mart are three popular destinations where consumers and retailers can purchase wholesale designer jeans.

Function

2. According to Wikipedia, selling wholesale clothing, which is referred to as jobbing, allows wholesalers to buy their stock from manufacturers and sell their merchandise to professional retailers for a discounted price. Store owners who sell jeans buy popular merchandise at a discount of at least 40 percent below the suggested retail price. Without the heavy discount, the retailer could not produce a profit from the sale of the jeans directly to the consumer.

Types

3. With celebrities and fashion trendsetters such as Christian Audigier and Beyonce Knowles launching designer jeans it's difficult to determine what denim styles the public will purchase next. Denim styles include cargo, skinny, boot cut, flared, high-waist, hipsters, straight-leg, low rise and slim. Wholesale designer jeans are available for men, women and children. Because wholesale designer jeans vary in shape, construction and color, a buyer should watch current fashion trends to please their customers' wide-ranging denim preferences and options.

Considerations

4. Wholesale designer jeans are sold in lots or parcels. Wholesalers rarely sell jeans individually unless there are sample sizes available for sale at the end of the season. Before buying jeans in bulk make a list of all the style numbers and sizes to prevent errors or oversights. All wholesalers do not carry the same denim clothing lines, and all sales are usually final.

Expert Insight

5. Most wholesalers require a retail sales license and a federal tax identification number to purchase merchandise at a reduced rate. For example, Atlanta's Apparel Mart does not allow entrance into the wholesale sales area without a valid retail business license, business card or proof of store ownership. Beware of buying wholesale designer jeans on the Internet without determining whether the product is genuine.

How to Buy Wholesale Jeans

For merchants, the purchase of wholesale jeans is available only to those with proper documents holding accounts with reputable vendors. Buying wholesale jeans can be a complicated process that takes some research and persistence to set up, but it is generally easy once an account has been established. When stocking your store, beware of unscrupulous vendors who claim to sell at wholesale but really do not.

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1

Attend popular trade events, such as Fashion Week or MAGIC. These events are great opportunities to find jeans that you might want to purchase, and they offer an excellent chance to meet showroom representatives with desirable lines. To attend these events, you'll need a tax ID, business license or business card to show to the counter attendant; these events are restricted to business owners.

Step 2

When speaking to vendors, ask about sales website access. Most leading wholesale sellers do not have their wholesale sites indexed by Google, so they are nearly impossible to find by Internet search. A sales representative will have to set up account access.

Step 3

Set up accounts for designer/vendor websites and buying access. Many designers and showrooms have wholesale websites that require a tax ID for entry; once authorized, the retailer can purchase product from the site. You will not be granted access to reputable wholesale vendors without a tax ID and/or retail business license, and you should not be charged for website catalog access.

Step 4

When looking at the assortment of products on the vendor's site or in the catalog, purchase with an eye toward what is in style. For hints, refer to such websites as Style.com for the latest in international runway shows. Always have some basic, timeless styles on your buying list, such as boot-cut and straight-leg jeans, for those who need to purchase the basics.

Step 5

Buy at least $250 worth of product in your first order. This quantity assures the vendor that you, the client, are not simply a consumer masquerading as a retailer. After this first order, you can then usually make smaller purchases.

Step 6

Watch out for sales and other opportunities to buy stock at low prices. Trade-show vendors often sell off samples at the end of the show, and showrooms have sample sales that offer garments at cut-rate prices. However, these events can be crowded and competitive, and the public may be able to attend, so be ready to work for those jeans.
